Women in Networking Announces New Format and Reach
Offerings Provide Women in Business Networking Expertise and Experience
Minneapolis, Minn – Teresa Thomas, Director of Women in Networking (WIN) today announced reinvention structure and formats for this 18-year-old business networking community. Due to COVID restrictions, WIN has changed its original in-person event model to virtual education and events to create borderless networking. The group has also updated its value proposition from a monthly meeting with a guest speaker to a networking resource that teaches, supports, and provides real time networking experience to effectively connect and conduct business. Using their LinkedIn Group as their primary communication medium, WIN has seen a steady increase of engagement from women globally.
Since April of 2020 the WIN gatherings have expanded traditionally Twin Cities based meetings to virtual speed networking, weekly coffee chats and “WIN Wednesdays” Zoom calls. Starting in November WIN expands the reach of their live meeting to a 90-minute Zoom call on the third Wednesday of the month. Charging a nominal event fee, these meetings are designed to both teach and engage with all in attendance. The breakout sessions throughout the meeting differentiates WIN from other business events allowing participants to learn networking best practices and then immediately put them into use. Women not able to attend the live meeting can visit the WIN LinkedIn Group at their convenience for a link to the call and additional resources and conversation.
“The way we do business today has changed and we need to equip our women business owners, executives and solopreneurs with skills to confidently and effectively connect with their target audience,” said Thomas. “I’ve assembled a select team of women to assist me as I reinvent WIN. We no longer charge an annual membership fee rather charge only for our virtual events. Our mission is to teach and create networks that allow women to build mutually beneficial relationships. Our new model simplifies and makes business a little easier – something we can all use in the current environment of isolation and change.”
Thomas is also expanding and adapting new technology mediums to teach and support the WIN community. She is launching an on-line course based on her networking book Win/Win Networking. Thomas is also teaming with like-minded businesses women from Way Beyond Ordinary and Sterling Cross PR to expand the reach and resources available to the community now and in the future.
Women in Networking (WIN) is a Minnesota based networking community providing education and opportunity for women in business to develop and apply networking best practices. Every WIN experience follows three pillars: 1) foster meaningful and mutually beneficial connections 2) learn new ways to succeed 3) energize and support through uplifting community.
